I'm losing the potty battle. However, I vow not to lose the war. Two accidents today and she seems unfazed. When we ran out of Cinderella panties, it sent her over the edge. Wear plain, pink Hanes? Please, get real. So, we went to Target to find some others while Cinderella was in the wash. Thank goodness, we found Mickey Mouse panties - another of her loves. However, she calls Mickey Mouse "hot dog" because of the song they sing on his morning show "Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggity dog..."
We went to the underwear aisle before we did our shopping - big mistake. In a split second, she had ripped open the package and had all three pair on her head yelling "HOT DOG!" She got the reaction she was hoping for from passersby, so she kept it up for the rest of the trip. When we got in the car, I said a little "hot dog" myself.
The trip to Target was three-fold: 1. panties 2. groceries because we're expecting a snow storm tomorrow and 3. yesterday, Hunter came home with a note saying he needs black pants and a white shirt for a program they are putting on at school on Friday. We accomplished all three!
By the way, Wiener is still here - no more incidents while hubby was away. We didn't need the dog adding to the mix - the kids kept me hopping. Hunter cleaned his room last night and threw out three bags of trash (he was so proud of himself). About an hour later - after I had cleaned out the litter box and dumped that into the big can on top of his trash, he can't find his homework. You guessed it, he threw it away! He can't reach into the trash can because he is too short, so I got to do it! The homework was salvaged and all was well.

It's time, we must cut our diaper budget in half. I'm on a mission to potty train McKenzie, who understands the concept and can even tell me when she needs to go and will go on the potty, but it's only when she feels like it. To encourage her progress, I bought her some Cinderella panties today. (She is in love with "Rella.") She was so excited to get the panties, but instead of heading to the bathroom to put them on, she put one pair on her head and then discovered that they made great bracelets and wore the other two pair on her arms. It was a little discouraging, but eventually, I hope to win. We need to cut the budget because Ellee is having to be on an expensive formula for a few more weeks - it is costing us $400 a month! My entire grocery bill for the other four of us is near that!
Phil is out of town, so I'm hoping that we don't have any repeat nights from last week - see last blog entry. If we do, Wiener may be finding a new home!
Have a good week!

Oh what a night!
Excuse any errors in this post... I didn't get much sleep last night. Before we get to last night's excitement, let's go back a couple of days.
Ellee cried most of the day Monday and all of yesterday. Have you ever been around a crying baby for hours on end? If so, you know how it can wear you out. I was barely hanging on last night when the doctor prescribed her some new formula for the next 48 hours. Last night, she slept like a champ.
McKenzie doesn't seem to like Ellee getting all of the nighttime attention, so she's been getting up in the night for the past couple of weeks on a regular basis. However, last night, not a peep from her.
You would think with our girls sleeping so well that hubby and I would get a good night's sleep - after all, it is much needed. Think again.
This time there was a new star in the nightly show - our dog Weiner. He had the runs, squirts, whatever you want to call it. Starting at 10:30pm he got us up every 15-20 minutes to go outside where he would get sick. I started trying to look at the bright side - at least he's going outside - that was until 3 a.m. when he threw up all over our room! I heard him make those noises, you know what I mean, so I grabbed him and tried to get him off the bed. Big Mistake! It went everywhere. Disgusting!
We had to get up, strip the bed - sheets, duvet cover and even the bed skirt had been hit. Then we had to vacuum and steam clean the carpets (thank Hoover that they make a home steam cleaner.) We threw the comforter and feather bed away and I'm going to have to go find new ones today. I say today because it is so cold without them in this ice tundra we live in.
After the mess was cleaned up - oh yeah and Ellee fed and changed - Weiner and I went to the couch. Apparently, he is fine now. In fact, he's still sleeping on the couch and acted indignant that I would bother him when I had to get up at 6:30am to get the baby!
If it's not one, it's the other.
So, let's see what else had been going on since the last post. Well, my sister came to visit from Texas and we had a really good visit. Hunter's Cub Scout pack had the Pinewood Derby on Saturday for which Phil spent an entire week building the car. They didn't win, but Hunter got a participation trophy, so he was happy.

Here are some pics from the past week:

A shopping we did go...
Yesterday I did it, I took both of my girls to the mall - all by myself. It was quite an adventure. I piled them into the double stroller and a shopping we did go. We lasted one hour and 35 minutes, which I thought it was pretty impressive on our first venture. I even managed to return the things I had to take back, buy a few things on sale and no one had a meltdown! By the time we left, I was actually sweating although it was 40 degrees. I definitely got my workout, but hey it beats real exercise - I got to be with my girls and shop, two of my favorite things.
My next big feat will be flying with the girls next month... it happens next month so stay tuned, I'm sure that it will be a blogworthy trip.
Today is a day that my hair and I have been looking forward to for some time - it's color & cut day. I've needed it for about four weeks, but haven't been able to fit it in. Hubby is trading in some hunting time for my hair time, seems like a good trade to me!
By the way, we have some great news to report here at the Brown house: the baby, now seven weeks old, has slept 9-11 hours for three nights this week! We are all thankful for the extra sleep and hoping it continues!
Have a great weekend!
